Description
This Bosch 18V PROFACTOR drill/driver is built for tough drilling and driving jobs, especially drilling large holes straight. The 1/2 In. GSR18V-1330C Drill/Driver is part of the PROFACTOR System, which pairs BITURBO Brushless Technology with a CORE18V PROFACTOR battery. BITURBO Brushless Technology is a high-performance motor and drive-train system designed to deliver power comparable to high-demand corded tools. This GSR18V-1330C 18V Connected-Ready Brute Tough 1/2 In. Drill/Driver features connectivity (module sold separately), linking to connected device via Bosch Toolbox App to customize settings, receive feedback and set specific angles for the Electronic Angle Detection feature. It has a powerful brushless motor that provides efficient power for up to 1,330 In.-Lbs. of max torque. It has variable speed settings: high speed (0-2,200 rpm) and high power (0-550 rpm). The drill/driver has KickBack Control, which helps reduce the risk of injury from sudden rotational torque reaction in a bind-up scenario and Electronic Angle Detection to ensure accurate drilling at angle. The 25 clutch settings help reduce fastener damage. It has an all-metal chuck that provides durability, and it has a longer belt clip for a more secure hold.
Nice metal chuck with a two stage ratcheting action. First a large click as it sets, then finer tooth ratcheting as you clamp it further.
It has a huge assist handle with a notched band attachment that’s much easier to use than the old screw-in handles.
The battery is huge, and the charger has a fan to keep things cool while charging. For such large capacity it filled up fairly quick.
One interesting feature it has is an electronic level light. Instead of a traditional bubble it has a light that changes from orange to green when the drill is presented at 45, 60, or 90 degrees to the work surface you’ve calibrated to. (Angle is selected by buttons above the battery). I found it reasonably accurate when measured against a vertical surface (drill horizontal) , but had a full +/-10 degrees window when used on a flat surface (drill vertical).
Another feature I wasn’t able to test was an anti kickback detection. Sounds promising, and I’ll watch for it next time I’m drilling a large metal hole.
The hammer drill function worked well and had no issue running an old dull masonry bit through a cinder block.
